The Scout Law

The Scout Law is used to opening meetings by Cub Scouts in their Dens and Packs, and also by Scouts in their Troops, Ships, Patrols, and Venture Crews. It’s a reminder of what a Scout is supposed to be. The Scout Law is:

A Scout is:

Trustworthy

Loyal

Helpful

Friendly

Courteous

Kind

Obedient

Cheerful

Thrifty

Brave

Clean

and Reverent.

The Scouts also have an oath, usually recited at the start of Den meetings and other activities.

Scout Oath
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Cub Scouts, further, have a motto, they always try to “DO YOUR BEST”. The cub scout motto is useful for the younger cub scouts who perhaps can’t memorize the whole of the scout law or scout oath and it gets to the point of what it means to be a scout. If they’re always at least trying to do their best, then they’re on the right track.
